How Does Tattoo Numbing Gel Work?
Our HUSH Numbing Gel is a local anesthetic, meaning it topically numbs the skin. It contains lidocaine as a main active ingredient.
Lidocaine numbs the skin temporarily. A 4% lidocaine numbing gel can help take the edge off. Results vary by person and placement.
The lidocaine-based numbing gel is applied directly to the skin you plan to tattoo. Check in with your artist before they start.
Tips for Applying Tattoo Numbing Gel
Check with your artist before your session about using a numbing gel. Label directions: "Adults and children 2 years of age and older: Apply to affected area not more than 3 to 4 times daily. Children under 2 years of age; consult a physician."
Use gloves to avoid numbing your hands or any skin you don’t want to be numbed. Numb hands are no fun!
Evenly spread the gel directly to the skin being tattooed. The amount you use depends on the size of the tattoo. Apply an even layer.
Avoid touching the area after you apply it, and be sure to wash your hands well after applying the numbing gel.
